My inaugural Singapore Biathlon, and i was lying next to COA during muscle rub! How cool is that? Anyway, first time swimming a single loop of 1.5km (desaru HIM was 2 loops of 1km i believe), and it was.... mind numbing. Just kept swimming and swimming. Got kicked in the nose once and whacked in the cheeks twice. Emerged with my goggles and swimcap intact at around 36mins. Not too shabby! The run killed me though. Theres something wrong with my right knee. Had to jog (instead of RUN) about 2km before the endorphins kicked in and i could really start burning up gravel. Came in slightly below 1:30 i believe. Not too bad, although i'm limping now.
I think everyone should give endurance sports a try. The atmosphere is really quite cordial. Everyones really supportive of noobs (me included. As in, i'm a noob, not as in i'm supportive of noobs, although i am, clearly), just try not to kick too many people's faces. I guess the main aim is to have a healthy lifestyle, and let me assure you, going to the stupid gym is definitely not enough for your cardio needs! I mean, its all good if you need to show off your swanky new nike gymwear, but ahem... those late night suppers aint gonna lose themselves through your pores you know!
